If you ever travel to Venice, at least during the summer months. Make sure that where ever you're staying has air conditioning or screens in the window. Mine had neither. It was fairly warm in the rooms, so I kept the windows open at night... Pleasant, or so it seemed.
But what do places with a lot of surface water also tend to have a lot of?
Mosquitoes.
My arms are covered with bites right now and itching up a storm. And that's nothing to say of the whining buzzing in your ear that'll keep you up if you're a light sleeper.
